Wow, what a busy and wonderful day! This morning the preschoolers played with the kitchen toys, did some learning games on the computer and built marble towers during play time and recess. After snack and indoor recess the eaglets practiced what to do during the move-up ceremony. We talked about the process and the event. I called each child's name one at a time and shook their hand just as we did during the ceremony. After, we chose some quiet books and coloring projects to do while we waited for our families to arrive. Thank you so much to all of you for your continued support throughout the school year! I'm not sure yet if it really takes a village to raise a child, but I'm 100% positive that it takes a village to successfully teach them! Your support, participation and commitment to your child's learning is what has made your child's preschool experience the great success that it has been. Thank you!!!

This morning the preschoolers played a variety of games together, such as using the yarn to tie each other up and make traps around the room. When play time was over we ate snack and played on the playground. The children used the swings together, dug in the dirt and organized games such as "toilet tag" (one of Julia's favorites) and Marco Polo. It started to rain, so we finished recess inside. The children played monkeys and gorillas, organized the babies so they could care for them and played with the kitchen set. After recess we talked about some of our favorite memories with our big buddies. James said he liked playing games like Candy Land and building blocks with Wyatt. He also suggested that he liked reading books. Jesse agreed that playing Candy Land and building blocks with Alice was a lot of fun. Tenny likes playing games with Opal. Julia likes eating snack with Payton and Noah said he likes playing with Liam. Each child designed a card for the buddy they chose and tomorrow we will hand them out.

After mass today we ate snack with our buddies and then played outside on the preschool playground. The children all played together. They enjoyed digging up "treasure" as well as pretending to be "parachuting" on the swings and baking cakes and Cookie Love cookies for each other. When we went inside we played Rhyme Time Go Fish all together. We each had cards in our hands and had to ask friends for the matching card that rhymes! It was tricky and fun. We practiced counting using one-to-one correspondence at the end to see how many cards we had. Have a great weekend!

This morning we all walked up to the main school for an all school picture on the lawn in front of the St. Mary's School sign. After, we went back to the preschool where we played With the Legos, played house with the doll house and played make believe games together. Later we ate snack and went outside for recess. While outdoors, the children played games together that involved everyone. They played "gorillas" and made gorilla eggs in the sand, Tenny and Maddie swung so high on the swings and the children chased each other around the playground. We split recess in two parts today; we did half at our usual time and half after learning centers so the grounds keepers could mow the lawn. When we went in for centers we finished our Father's Day crafts. The children explained to James what the project is and while I completed the last few handprints with students, some eaglets chose different learning center games to play while James created a picture and dictated the words that he wanted to write to his dad. When centers ended we read books with pop-pop and made our rest mats so they'd be ready for after lunch time. Then we finished the pretend games we were playing outside before lunch.

Today was a marvelous day! This morning the preschoolers played a variety of make believe games, such as "working" on the computers, babies and cooking. When play was over we ate snack and had morning meeting. We practiced counting, rhyming and graphing during meeting and chose 2 games to play at the end. Julia suggested we play "Honey I love you" and Tenny requested the "who is missing game". Jesse really wanted to play the game where we change something about our appearance and everyone has to guess what it is so we decided we would remember to play that game the next time we have meeting! After meeting we worked in our Handwriting Without Tears books. We wrote "Magic C" and O. We practiced saying the sounds for both letters, sang the 'Where do you start your letters?' song and thought up some words that start with both letters. I reminded the children to not letter tricky Magic C fool you...it sounds like it should say /s/ but actually says /k/. As we were finishing our letters Julia decided to skim ahead a little bit. She noticed "Hey! This letter is a Magic C letter, too!" She wasn't quite sure what the name of the letter was and we all decided that is is G. As the children completed their work they all wanted to look through their handwriting books to see the work they already did and the work that is still to come. Some friends traced the alphabet at the back of the book while others wrote "words" and friends names on the blank page. When handwriting was all over we got ready for recess on the little school playground. The children all played together. They started off by playing Scooby Doo. Each child had a different character that he or she was and chased each other around the play yard. When they were done playing Scooby Doo I observed them reenacting the scenes from the movie Frozen. They took turns pretending to be Elsa and Anna and singing the snowman song as well as others! I have not yet seen the movie, but your children are such strong actors, I may not need to! They also used the swings and dug together in the sandbox. When recess was over we walked to the main school to see Mr. Ketcham in PE. We played with the big kids on the playground for the rest of our recess time and then ate lunch at the little school.

Good morning! Phew, today was a hot day at St. Mary's but everyone had a great time! This morning the whole preschool played "puppies" together. The children took turns being a puppy while others cared for them and prepared them food. I worked one on one with the last child to complete the last of the "games" I am using as an assessment tool. After play time we cleaned up for meeting. We practiced such routines today such as rhyming, counting and graphing through songs and other activities. After snack we played outside for recess. While outdoors the kids played "police officer". Noah and Julia came to Ms. B and I and tied us up and locked us away for various "crimes". The children all used the sand and stones to mix potions and and poisons and various concoctions. We were low key outside because of the heat and humidity and came inside a few minutes early so we could enjoy a drink of icy cold water. After we talked about Father's Day! The children suggested that Father's Day is a day when we show our dads how much we love them. Tenny said that we give them valentines cards. Noah disagreed because it is not valentines day and suggested instead that we show our dads with cards and gifts because they love us so much. We talked about ways that we can show our dads we love them and began a project. Each child suggested what he or she would draw. We worked on drawing pictures for the posters we are making and then each child chose colors that I painted on their hands for handprints. The projects will be completed later in the week and will be sent home next week prior to fathers day!
